Simple Recipes for the Season: Fall 2014
While my Midwestern heart still longs for dramatic changes to the seasons, I’ve come to appreciate the Bay Area’s more subtle transitions. Though less brilliant in color, leaves are falling, and there’s a chill in the air. The market is brimming with pears, apples, walnuts in their tough shells, Brussels sprouts, bumpy heads of cauliflower, hearty greens and round pumpkins. Spectacular or not, I love this season and all that comes out of the kitchen as we hunker down and get cozy, summer’s revelry now behind us.
