Why We Love It: Of all the amazing items on izakaya’s menu, I can’t quit the kabocha korokke. The croquettes, thin patties of mashed curry-scented squash, are rolled in Acme pain de mie breadcrumbs, and fried until golden and crisp. Next to a pile of snowy cabbage and house-made tonkatsu sauce, they’re perfect with a cold beer.

Winter menu: Dungeness crab sunomono, shime saba with sesame tare, yuzudofu
